Limited progress since last year.

Recently acquired a Lindros master photo.

Also found a few cards on COMC.  Roenik and Hasek award winners and Sullivan and Drury master photos.

They have several more but nothing I need.

I am always watching eBay but the jump in shipping cost to Canada have hurt the hobby.

The Beckett community has yielded very little in recent years.  Burbank is the only shop that consistently has inventory of my interest.  Years ago they were the best peer to peer trading site.

Mail - Oct 24&25/2013

I had a couple of cards arrive in the last few days.

Yesterday a Sports Card Forum purchase arrived.  I received two Award Winners, an Allison and a Friesen.

Today a Beckett Trade arrived. My cards had made it to Finland yesterday.  I received a Lalime Master Photo and a Primeau Award Winner.

The only outstanding transaction is the balance of the COMC order coming from the US.

I purchased a Doug Weight Master Photo from a trader on Ebay.

Oct 23/2013- Success, mail , the Bump , etc

First off.  Today is the anniversary of the Bump.  The Springhill mining disaster occurred 55 years ago today. So dust off the U2 records and cassettes and listen to their song about the event.

I have a full set of 2001-02 Topps Stadium Club hockey Master Photos.  I acquired the last one needed and it arrived today.  Card number 40 , Teemu Selanne was very elusive but I did finally get it.

So what next??

I have more than 100 of the award winners.

Plus the deal that brought me the Selanne netted numerous additional Master Photos.  I currently have 70/140 towards a second set plus some trips and quads.

Oct 21/13 - Mail and Watching a Bidding War

I had my penny sleeves arrive as well as a Hejduk Award Winner from Ebay.

The card came from the US - very fast.  Nicely packaged in a rigid cardboard CD mailer with the card in a toploader inside.

Currently on Ebay there is a crazy bidding war on a Clemmenson Award Winner. Booking for $4 the card has bids at $54 plus shipping.  Unsure if it's the card, set, player or team.

Beckett Trade

Back in the 2002 and 2003 time frame Beckett had a forum area which had a great trading community.  I made numerous trades, sending cash in the mail at times and never had a problem.  Compared to some of the scammers i have experienced on ebay and those on some of the trading boards who I have been lucky to avoid.

I sold an extra Datsyuk master photo on Ebay and it never arrived in Hawii. I refunded but was out the card. . Another person promised to send extra cards on an ebay side deal, seemed to good to be true and was.  The Master Photo set that I bought on Eay then the seller disappeared was sad because I wanted the cheap set but I did get refunded through Paypal thankfully.  I guess I was scammed in all of these deals.

So skip forward to today and Beckett has a new trading system that can be linked to your inventory.  So card value are auto populated if you have an OPG subscription.   I had some difficulty using the inventory correctly there are several views to use to set cards for trade.  Eventually figured it out and sent the 2 cards to Finland at a cost of $3.08.

COMC, toploader and penny sleeves

COMC:

I found a new online card selling site.  It is called Check out My Cards, Comics and Collectables.  It is alternative for collectors and the high shipping fees.  Sellers physically send all of their for sale items to COMC- they scan, insure and do some background, the seller prices and then they are sold.
The benefit of all the sellers have the cards in one location is that they all get shipped together so you can save big on shipping as opposed to being $3ed to death.  Top loaders are an option for each card at $0.20 / card.  The seller pays fees to COMC.

I was able to pick up a few more 01/02 stadium clubs there and they have a few more listed.

I picked up some top loaders and penny sleeves.  These things are not cheap.  So the are a cost that sellers have that people sometimes do not recognize.

After an expensive card collecting weekend now I'll watch the mail for the next few weeks.

Making a push

It has been almost 4 years with no progress upticking from 139/140 to 140/140.

Selanne remains ever elusive.  I have ebay alerts set up.  I search foreign ebay sites.  I use various search engines.  I troll the trading sites and beckett.com.  But I am yet to have success.

I have started trading at Sports Card Forum.  The have a good trading system and excellent card organizer.

I landed an Allison Award winner that i needed and an extra Jeff Friesen.

Agreed to buy a Koivu Gallery gold from Parallel Dave.
